Easter Saturday since 1979

The most fun you can have over 6.2 milesMardi Gras, Jazz Fest — and the Classic. Every spring 20,000 people gather downtown, from international elites to friends who walk the whole route carrying cocktails in bunny suits.

Praised in every major running publication as “one of America’s fastest 10Ks” and “the originator of the party race”, the Classic is the Gulf South’s premier road race and one of the oldest 10Ks in the nation. It started with 902 runners in 1979. It’s produced, start to finish, by a local not-for-profit — the Crescent City Classic Foundation.

Why “Crescent City”?

The river draws the C

The Mississippi bends hard around the French Quarter. New Orleans grew inside that crescent — and the Classic starts right in the middle of it.

Then the partyEven at the first Classic in 1979 the founders knew you can’t hold an event in New Orleans without music, food and drinks. For most runners, it’s the reward for months of training.
